Welcome From the Chair

On behalf of the organizing committee, I sincerely invite you to join the First AsiaEvo Conference which will be held during 18-20th April 2018 at Dameisha in Shenzhen, a high-tech center and young megacity in south of China.

Despite the fact that there are increasing numbers of exciting findings made by evolutionary biologists from Asian countries, we had no international community to enhance this academic trend. The AsiaEvo is not to exclude scientists from Asian countries, but to actively mix scientists and students from all over the world to promote evolutionary studies.

The programme promises to be exciting with the 44 sessions covering all major research topics in evolutionary topics and over 120 distinguished invited speakers from all over the world. The conference will also organize a poster session in the fantastic main building of China National Genebank, which will be an enjoyable place for your social networking.

Shenzhen is easily accessible from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport or Hong Kong International Airport. We will arrange for transfer services from both airports to the conference venue at Sheraton Dameisha Resort Hotel. The conference venue is also surrounded by other accommodation options of all price ranges.

We are looking forward to seeing you in the beautiful Shenzhen!

Guojie Zhang

  • Zhonghe Zhou
Dr. Zhonghe Zhou is a vertebrate paleontologist, focusing on early bird evolution.
He is currently director of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of the international Palaeontological Association, the member of the CAS and foreign associate of the National Academy of Sciences of USA.
The 1st AsiaEvo meeting would not have been possible without the tremendous effort of Prof. Zhou in fund-raising and in persuading numerous researchers and administrators to support this community.
To acknowledge his great contribution, and in accordance with his wish to leave all AsiaEvo scientific content decisions to an independent organizing committee, we have invited him to join as an "honorary chair" of the conference.
